FLORIDA House & Senate Unanimously Pass 'Hoisting Bill'
3/8/2012
This legislation passed the House unanimously on February 29th and
the Senate on March 8th. It now goes to the Governor's desk for signing.
The Crane Safety Coalition, comprised of, (Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), Associated
General Contractors (AGC), Construction Assoc. of South Florida (CASF) and The Florida Crane
Owners Council (FCOC), has been lobbying for years to have a uniform statewide standard in place.
Revised OSHA rules put forward in November of 2010 (after 30 years) have updated many important standards for the crane and construction industry, not just for Florida, but accross the country. The passage of this bill clarifies statewide uniformity and eliminates the need for individual county or municipality adopted crane rules.
This has finally been made possible by the tireless efforts of many.
The Florida Crane Owners Council would like to Thank our House Sponsor, Representative
Frank Artiles, Senator Dean and Senator Bennett, and Associated Builders & Contractors
for their actions in Tallahassee.
Another Victory for SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE
